Look! Daddy’s gone mad!

But he survived! So we had lunch at this neat spot overlooking two lakes:

And I got to walk through the Botanical Gardens with Nannie.

We’re off! Here we go, with Papa and Nannie in open-air VWs for Daddy’s birthday. We’re heading up to mythical White Sand Beach.

Will and I had a bit of a dip.

And here’s Will clapping along to the old man playing the er, gamelan instrument.

It’s one of Bali’s last untouched beaches… except on ceremony days.

Well I still don’t know about any party, but look who’s shown up! It’s Papa!

And Nana!

And goodness. That looks like a streamer. It IS a party! Look all my pals are here, and we’re going to get our faces painted.

Here’s my sister painted:

It got pretty noisy of course, so Lyla had to tell everyone to be quiet so they wouldn’t wake up her new little doll that my great grandma made for her.

We had a pavlova for my cake, with a single candle on it.

After everyone went home, we opened the pressies!

Thanks everyone, for a great birthday!

I’m one! I’ve got this pressie, it’s a train, but my big sister wants to help me open it. I can do it, of course, but I humour her.

And then there are these… What the hell are these??

OK, got it, but I won’t be needing those for a while. Here’s my birthday brekkie of… toast! My favourite!

Later Lyla and Tenzin played rocket-to-the-moon in our room.

And I hoped that maybe tomorrow someone would throw me a bloody party.
Here me and my mates are at Bali’s Reptile Park.

We started off by patting a turtle. We could have ridden on him if our parents weren’t watching. Look at his huge carapace! (See, I’m learning new words all the time.)

We also had a poke at a little lizard. My mum went first actually, and she dropped it! Honestly, you can’t take her anywhere.

Then we moved onto the BIG lizard. Here he is!

I had to chase him for a little while.

But I managed to get him right where I wanted him!

But my favourite? Well, it still has to be…
