Homeward bound

The 5am departure time was tough but the baggage we’d accumulated even tougher to imagine getting to Jakarta intact.

Luckily I’d upgraded to business using miles and they were the best miles ever spent in the history of Lyladom. No check-in waiting time (the queue for economy was… I hate to think how any nappies we would have been changing while standing there…) All 95 kg of luggage through without charge. No upgrade for Dad, alas. Still, so far, so good.

The seat next to Mum was empty… Lyla stayed in her bjorn for take-off and snoozed her way skyward — no need for a bottle laced with gin or dummy dipped in vodka. Meal served, Mum asked whether Dad in economy could join her. His seat number? I didn’t know… The attendant said she’d have to ask her boss. In a flash she was back. “Sure, but I’m afraid I don’t know what your husband looks like.”

Dad was back in the nick of time — breakfast time!

A little grizzling led to confinement in the bassinet.

A second feed from Mum fixed that — time for a sleep for Travelfish’s tiniest ambassador.

Finally, back at Soekarno-Hatta. Whisked through diplomatic channel with babe in arms.
