We had a classic festival of food frustrations this evening. I hadn’t started anything for dinner by the time S got home and figured she’d have something in mind that I could whip up. Sure enough she did. Problem was the crave was comprised of high quality fresh pasta — preferably ravioli with a light sauce.
There were a few problems with this crave.
1) We had no high quality fresh pasta
2) We had no ravioli
3) We had no light sauce
We had lots of other stuff, so I suggested a few replacement dishes, getting more and more desperate as the list lengthened…
Spaghetti with tomato sauce?
Mmmm… no
Macaroni with tomato and mushroom sauce
Mmmm… no
Spaghetti in garlic and butter
Mmmm… no
Stir-fried vegetables
Mmmm… no
Stirfry with chicken
Mmmm… no
Roast vegetables
Mmmm… no
Mushroom soup
Mmmm… no
Home-made french fries
Mmmm… no
What did S end up declaring she wanted for dinner? After coming home and requesting high quality fresh pasta — preferably ravioli with a light sauce?
Baked beans on toast.
Those baked beans were delicious!
I give up.
